From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

Hello Vermont families,

Welcome to Winter! With some chilly days ahead, it is a good time to remind everyone to ensure that all jackets and jumpers are clearly named. We have had a lot of lost property making its way through the office, so please be sure to label everything so it can come back to you should it go missing!

School Review

The last two weeks have been very busy here at VPS, with our school review almost complete. This happens every 4 years, and involves a deep dive into all areas of the school. We have had a Validation Day where the review team (which includes an external reviewer and two principals from different schools) analyses the school data and trends over the last 4 years, and two Fieldwork days. The Fieldwork days have included student, teacher and parent forums, classroom observations and conversations with school leaders. It has been wonderful to share with the review panel the fantastic work taking place in our school, and to proudly demonstrate the outstanding level of commitment and dedication not only from the teachers and support staff, but our students as well. We have the final day of the review next week, and will receive a report making recommendations for future directions.

Curriculum Day reminder

Just a reminder to everyone that next Friday 9th of June is a student free day. Teachers will be working on planning and assessment for the coming semester. OSHC will be available for those who need it. Refer to the OSHC page for details.

Colour Run prizes

Last week, students who raised money as part of last terms colour run received their prizes. There were certainly lots of happy faces as the prizes were distributed. A big congratulations to Zainab from Year 6 who was the highest fundraiser in the school.

Swimming program

A huge thank you to the teachers and parents who helped out with Year 1 and 2 swimming last week, especially Mr Walsh who coordinates the program. We hope that this introduction to water safety and basic swimming skills leads to some fun family experiences at the pool or beach.

Community Network updates

The Community Network will be hosting a parents morning on Friday 16th of June where a coffee van will be available for people to purchase a coffee while they have a chat with other parents and some staff. We would love to see as many of you there as possible! The van will be located at the front of the school.

The Community Network is also looking at holding a parents movie evening, and is seeking feedback on how many people would be interested in attending before going ahead with planning. They are planning on a 7pm session, watching the Barbie movie. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents from the school. Please click on the link below to register your interest.

Have a great weekend everyone!
