Buildings and Grounds update
What has changed in the school for 2021?
When students return at the start of Term 3, they will notice the fencing up for the construction of our new Visual Arts and Food Technology building. The builders appointed- Jointly Constructions have extensive experience in constructing school buildings and understand the needs of the school to maintain our curriculum programs while building occurs.
The building site will include the open space in between the Science/Tech building and the B Block. There is no impact to our curriculum program, but students will notice that they will not be able to take a short cut from the current B Block to the Senior school or D block across the open space. This will add extra foot traffic to the link corridor during busy changeover times.
Unfortunately the planned grounds work across the school is being impacted by the shortages in the construction industry. This includes the Basketball Courts refurbishment, which is ready for the laying of asphalt, but is currently delayed. The steel poles have been installed for the outdoor seating area, but we are just awaiting the installation of the weather-proof shade sails. Following the installation of the shade sails, artificial turf and outdoor seating will be installed.
The installation of an outdoor table tennis table and seating area is proceeding over the school holidays. This will see the addition of an all-weather steel table tennis table in the area between A block and Library, as well as further outdoor seating.
