PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Have you ever wanted to help out on school activities? Sports days, class assistance, College musical, kitchen-garden program or Parents and Friends events? In order to volunteer or assist with any school activity, Child Safety Legislation requires that you undertake a school induction session and provide a copy of your Working with Children Check. Anyone can apply for a Working with Children by going to https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/

Our next Parent Induction Session will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at 2.30pm, in B7 classroom which is in the first VCE Building. This session will take about 45 minutes to complete and provides you with the essential information for you to become a volunteer in school activities.

Reach Out Community (ROC) and Interact Join Forces

A fantastic night was had by all at Aitken’s Got Talent a couple of weeks ago raising $500 for Beyond Blue. Congratulations to all the students involved. Performers ranged from Year 3 to 12.

The concert was hosted by Jasmine and Rhiannon, two members of the Interact Exec and judged by a motley crew of has-been stars.

* Encouragement Award went to Joel (Year 7)

* Junior Runner Up was Zara (Year 6)

* Senior Runner Up was Nadia and Sieglind (Year 9)

* Junior Winner was awarded to Andrew (Year 6)

* Senior Winner was awarded to Angelique (Year 10)

Reach Out Community (ROC) call out for Volunteers

I am hoping to establish a small group of volunteers to be involved in arranging a few “Reach Out Community” events this year. One in particular that I am hoping to work towards is a community Carols By Candlelight, to be held on Friday, December 9. Performers would be selected from local primary, secondary and singing/performing arts schools. Volunteers would assist with setting up the stage, sound and lighting, sourcing and selling candles, creating the program and ushering audience members. If you would be interested, please email me mcooper@aitkencollege.edu.au. I will be aiming to hold an initial meeting mid-August to get the ball rolling.
