IT'S BEEN A PRIVILEGE, KIERAN AND ALICE!

"Daring leadership is ultimately about serving other people, not ourselves. That’s why we choose courage.” - Brene Brown

It’s not rare for 21st Century educators to have the fortune of mentoring committed, passionate, Christ-centred, environmentally conscious young men and women, but it has been a privilege in my first year as College Environment Coordinator to have been able to work closely with, and witness, the great leadership of two outstanding Year 12 Stewardship Captains, Kieran Lobo (Barlow) and Alice Main (O’Reilly).

From the very outset of the 2022 school year, Alice and Kieran “hit the ground running” to ensure their visible, resolute and committed leadership would make a real difference to the EcoHearts brand by building a more conscious awareness and legacy in the stewardship space at Sacred Heart College. Kieran and Alice have always led from the front and have developed several unique initiatives that will the stand the test of time as Year 12 Stewardship Captains, namely:

  • Development of the concept of a First Nations Herb Garden in the new Technologies Area
  • The inaugural Sacred Heart Day Containers for Change Stall
  • The inaugural Heart Market (Thursday 1- Friday 2 September, 2022). You can see a time lapse of just 2 minutes of this popular event HERE.

Sincerest thanks, Kieran and Alice. You have been an inspiration to many at Sacred Heart College and I wish you every success in the upcoming Semester Two and WACE Examinations and, indeed, in your lives beyond the College.

In the indomitable words of Brene Brown, you have dared to lead and, in the process, dared to dream big as Year 12 Stewardship Captains paving the way for future Sacred Heart College student leaders to see stewardship as a rewarding, vital and courageous pursuit.
