TOURNAMENT OF MINDS (TOM) RESULTS

We had a fun day at the Tournament of Minds (TOM) Regional Finals on Saturday. The students all did really well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
I am thrilled to announce that the following teams made it into the State Final of TOM, which will take place on Saturday 17 September at ECU Joondalup. At this event, teams will receive a new problem to solve and only have three hours to come up with a presentation of their solution.
Congratulations to Team 6 (Language Literature coordinated by Mrs Loretta De Conti) who received Honours and to Team 4 (Language Literature coordinated by Mrs Tanya Atherton) who won the State Trophy for the best Spontaneous response. The question was “Money doesn’t grow on trees”, what three things could grow on trees and what impact would those items have on the future?' They only had four minutes to come up with a response. The team cleverly used idioms to answer the question.
We are proud to announce that the following teams will be competing in the State Final:
STEM Team 3 coordinated by Mr Julien Hunt
LANGUAGE LITERATURE Team 4 coordinated by Mrs Tanya Atherton and Student Facilitators Julia Buswell (Year 11 Barlow) and Josie Hicks (Year 11 Trinity)
SOCIAL SCIENCE Team 2 coordinated by Mr Aaron Richards
SOCIAL SCIENCE Team 7 coordinated by Mrs Tanya Atherton
ARTS Team 1 coordinated by Mrs Tanya Atherton and Student Facilitator Kayah Swiatopelk-Mirski-Smith (Year 11 Trinity)
Teams that are successful at the State Finals will go on to represent WA in Canberra at the International Final later in the year.
