GPF News

Dear Girton Families,

On behalf of Girton Parents and Friends Association (GPF), I am pleased to provide an update on the committee. The GPF has already met a couple of times this year and, it has been particularly pleasing to welcome a number of new parents to the committee. The GPF meets monthly on a Tuesday at 5.30pm in the Morey Building and new members are always welcome!

2020 was a challenging year for our school community and our broader community. Sadly, many of the usual social events that connect our school community and allow us to celebrate the school and students were unable to held.

This year, the GPF is focused on re-connecting the school community. We particularly want to support new families to the school and to meet and connect with existing parents and families. The GPF and Friends of Junior School (FOJS) have recently undertaken an audit of all the year-level parent Facebook groups across the school. These parent-run year-level Facebook groups are useful for parents and families to connect and share information related to various activities. The groups have all been updated and are now easier to search and find.

We will be posting some exciting upcoming events on these pages. Please stay tuned!

Many of the Junior School year levels have organised social events and parent evenings for their year levels. These events have been very popular, with many people commenting that, after such a turbulent year last year, it is wonderful to be able to reconnect, in person, with parents and friends. I encourage all year levels across the school to consider organising social events for your year levels, they are proving to be a great success!

GPF welcomes ideas and opportunities to reconnect and to connect our school community. If any parents or families have suggestions please email me or, if you have an event and you would like support to organise and promote it across the school, please let us know if you require support.
