Library regeneration grant – Dymocks Children’s Charities

Dymocks Children’s Charities are an independent, Australia-wide charity who provide new books to children and young people in priority locations around Australia. We have been fortunate to secure a grant from DCC for $10,000 worth of books for our school, both for the library and across KHS.

Children who are exposed to good books and read regularly have better educational outcomes and lead healthier and happier lives, so it is exciting to have this opportunity to add further high quality resources to our school library, and provide enrichment for our students.

The links between access to good books and educational outcomes are well documented. Further research has also identified a link between access to books and a range of other important outcomes including an improved sense of wellbeing, resilience and good health. Reading stimulates the imagination and creativity and offers whole new worlds to explore. Being literate is critical to participate fully in society and find employment.

Stay tuned for updates as our books arrive!
