ANZAC DAY RINGWOOD

On the 23rd of April, the Vermont Marching Band met at Ringwood and marched along Maroondah Highway to the Clocktower for an ANZAC Day Memorial service.

The band performed the National anthems of both Australia and New Zealand, sung by Jorja and Samantha in VCE.

The students then marched back to the Ringwood RSL. It was a really nice service and the students showed great respect for the occasion and represented the school in a most positive light. Huge thanks to Ms. Sally Barkla for leading the band on the day and to all the students and parents who came along to support the event.

ANZAC DAY MELBOURNE

On the 25th of April, The band joined the ANZAC Day festivities in Melbourne city. Stepping off at Flinders and Swanston streets, the band, lead by Ms. Clarke, marched along St.Kilda road to the Shrine of Remembrance. Onlookers and supporters applauded the band as they marched and played 'The Pacific March' and 'The Pershing Rifles'.

Student leaders carried the school flag and marched to the rhythm of the snare drums as the students marched twice through the city streets on what was a gloriously sunny day for April.

Huge thanks to Ms. Clarke for leading the band on the day. Thanks also to Mr. Jacobs and the parents who came along to support the students. It was a terrific day!

To celebrate ANZAC Day, the Vermont Secondary College Symphonic Band had been requested to perform at two ANZAC services during the holiday period. The first was on the 23rd at Ringwood Clocktower, where we carried out two marches, Pacific March and Pershing Rifles, and the Australian and New Zealand national anthems. The ANZAC Commemoration was incredibly touching, and we were honoured to be part of it. On the 25th of April, the Symphonic Marching Band was invited to the 2023 annual ANZAC Parade at Melbourne CBD to March with many other school bands and Veterans. We had lots of fun after marching from Federation Square to the Shrine of Remembrance twice. The excitement and anticipation that we experienced when we saw the crowds gathered on the sidewalk was indescribable. The crowd was incredibly supportive, cheering us on as we marched. Overall, the Marches were a huge success and were something to look forward to during the holiday break.
