Changing role of schools

Over recent years, the role of a Christian school has changed and will continually evolve.  We have all sought and appreciated the comfort and stability that a caring community brings.  In the past, our ‘community’ might have been the church, volunteer organisation, our neighbour or social groups.  With these connections declining, the School is more likely to assume this role.

Our school will be tested over the coming period to deal with safety and health activities that may arise.  With resilience and clear communication, the School will happily continue to play its role as a community for all.

Camp activities coming to GSG

Camp staff will travel to Albany, working within a COVID Safety Plan, to instruct our Year Nine students.  This camp was planned for Karridale (near Augusta).  With some negotiation with the Outdoor Education Group, they will lead students in canoeing on the Kalgan, bushwalking, and camp cooking.  These activities will take place around the Kalgan area over three days during school hours.

We wish the students well on these exciting activities.  Thank you to Mr Bryce McLean, Head of Year Nine and Mr Adam Scott, Head of Middle School for their ability to arrange a wonderful experience for the students at short notice.

Spirit of Grammar Scholarships

The School launched the Spirit of Grammar Scholarship late last year in conjunction with the establishment of the Great Southern Grammar Foundation.  The majority of scholarships have been allocated with just a few vacancies available.  Information for students, not currently enrolled at Great Southern Grammar is available on the School’s website, please ask any families who may be interested to visit the website or contact our Registrar, Mrs Julia Bairstow julia.bairstow@gsg.wa.edu.au

2022 Parent Information Videos

Given the current restrictions on face-to-face meetings, videos will increase in frequency to inform GSG parents on the happenings across the School.

Already a number of video messages from staff have been uploaded for your viewing.

YouTour

With perfect timing, given that we currently aren’t able to welcome prospective families to our school campus due to COVID restrictions, we are excited to be launching a virtual tour of Great Southern Grammar. You can take a flight through our campus and view 360’s, photos and videos along your journey. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition.
