Writers’ Collective Workshops 2022

Years Six to Eleven: Attention returning and new students to the programme

Earlier this week I received the following message from the Literature Centre in Fremantle (which runs the Writers Collective Programme in Regional WA):

Following the latest COVID-19 restrictions in schools regarding the mingling of groups, the team at The Literature Centre has been busy working on different options to deliver this term's Young Writers' Collective to students. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

In order to make the program available to all the students who intend to enrol, we are offering the two following options:

Live Stream workshops

These workshops will be streamed via Vimeo live from The Literature Centre from 9.30am to 2.00pm (please refer HERE for dates). If each student (or pair of students) has access to a laptop or tablet, they may also be able to log in and feed questions through to the presenter (with possibility to participate to Q&As and poles). We will be sending a link to the stream ahead of time.

We are unfortunately not able to offer any face-to-face workshops in schools in Term One.

Video recording of the Livestream workshops

For the students unable to attend the livestream, we will be recording the sessions for them to watch in their own time.

The price will remain the same for both options: $30 per student

Presenting authors books will be available to purchase from our online bookshop.

We will be offering a 15% discount to all the Young Writers' Collective teachers and students who order books through our website this term. An online promo code will be emailed to you once your registration is confirmed.

We look forward to delivering our exciting program to your students this term and hope to be able to welcome everyone back face-to-face in Term Two.

Unfortunately, at GSG this term we are not able to offer Option One at school. The new restrictions limit mixing across year groups and staffing a full day for Years Six to Eleven (in separate locations) is not possible.  So, for Term One, our suggestion is that students who are keen to complete the Term One workshop online should do so at home, either on the day of the live feed (with parent/guardian permission), or in their own time.  We have created a Cognito form here for you to register your interest.  Please let us know whether you intend to take part in the face-to-face workshops planned for Terms Two and Four.

The price remains the same and, as always, student accounts will be charged for the whole year ($120).  Should further complications arise and it becomes necessary to do so, accounts will, of course, be reimbursed.

Many thanks for your interest in this valuable educational programme. Further information about the workshop days for students new to the programme is available HERE
