Auditions for 2022’s Sweethearts and Young Hearts bands are now open.

 

Sweethearts continue to develop young female musicians from the Geelong and wider peninsula regions. This all female soul band, deliver explosive energy with their refreshing live shows.

 

Sweethearts are searching for female school students who perform on any of the following instruments: Saxophone, trombone, trumpet, flute, drums and percussion, bass guitar, guitar, keyboard, and lead and backing vocalists.

 

The Sweethearts Foundation Inc. (a not for profit association) fully manages the Sweethearts band, which is comprised of students aged 13 – 18, and a junior Young Hearts band for girls aged 10 – 16. 

 

As a Sweetheart you study a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Music, the highest qualification able to be offered to secondary school students and the only program with the capacity to deliver it. The benefits not only lift students musicianship to a professional level, but there are contributions to VCE/VCAL units, ATAR scores and for those wishing to pursue a career in music, the qualification aids in supporting University applications. 

 

Sweethearts are a Victorian institution and deliver performances of such high standard that they draw attention from world renowned artists including Bernard Purdie, Gil Askey, Vivien Sessoms, Pee Wee Ellis, The Waifs, Katie Noonan, Maceo Parker & Wayne Jackson.
