Canons cap off season

IN recent weeks, members of the Specialised Basketball Program competed in the coveted Elite Basketball tournament at Warwick Stadium. The Year 9 and 10 carnival, held on 28 October, and the Year 7 & 8 carnival, on 2 November, featured six teams from St Norbert College (that is, more than 50 students).

All teams performed extremely well, showing that all the hard work throughout the year had paid off. Every student played in the correct spirit and implemented a number of strategies they have worked on throughout 2022 (in both class sessions and morning session).

On a number of occasions opposition coaches and teachers commended our teams for being highly competitive, tenacious on defence and for having well-orchestrated offence.

A big thank you must go to Mr Colin Driscoll (Specialist Basketball coach) and Mr Ryan Godfrey (Canons Director of Sport) for their coaching and help prior to the carnival.

Individual highlights from the tournament included a number of students being selected in the ‘Elite 8 – All Stars’. Congratulations to Ethan Price (Year 9) and Reece Anticevic (Year 8) for making the Year 9/10 team, and Andre Dweh (Year 7) for making the Year 7/8 team.

Champions breakfast

OUR elite sporting students and their parents gathered at Xanten Amphitheatre early this month for the Canons Specialised Basketball, Football and Sporting Awards.

Congratulations to all medallists and to our Physical Education staff for their boundless energy and guidance throughout the year. The award-winners enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast to fuel up for the day!
