Pantomine opens tonight

A GROUP of Junior Drama Club students have been rehearsing for a traditional  pantomime to be performed at the New Fortune Theatre in the grounds of the University of Western Australia. And opening night is tonight!

Our students are playing evil mafia-style rats in the show Dick Whittington and His Cat, which is described as “ fun for the whole family''.

In the show young Dick Whittington travels to London to make his fortune and along the way has to fight off the King Rat  and his rat pack , aided only by his faithful cat and the occasional magic of a fairy.

The director of the show, Mr Stephen Lee, said he was impressed with the energy and the enthusiasm and dedication of the group. The students have loved rehearsing are looking forward to being on stage in an open air theatre which resembles the style of theatre that was used in Shakespearian times.

The New Fortune Theatre is also home to a number of peacocks and peafowls which live at the venue. Our students have had to get used to listening to them squawking during rehearsals and wandering around!
