NSWCHSSA Secondary 15s Touch Football

We would like to wish Alexis Lockwood year 8 & Nya Quinlan year 9 all the very best as they are participating in the NSWCHSSA Secondary 15 years Touch Football trials at Nelson Bay.

Go hard girls.

We had 10 students try out for Zone teams for Touch football. All students played extremely well in the sweltering conditions. Dallas Kelly was successful in making the Opens Boys Zone team and Taelah Jerrard, Collanah Ahoy and Sara Dixon made the possibles and probables teams on the day. Dallas will go through to NW trials. Thanks to Skye and Jaiden who stepped in to referee games, which was greatly appreciated by the organisers. Thanks also to the students for their attitude and conduct on the trip.

New England Futsal Title held at UNE on Thursday 9th March. U15’s and 16’s were overall winners in their divisions. We entered three U19’s teams and all were very evenly matched. U19’s Blue were overall runners up in a very tight competition.  All teams reflected the amazing levels of talent and skills of our players resulting in high quality and intense games of futsal. The top two teams of each age division will be invited to represent ASC at the Northern NSW Futsal Championships later this year.

The 16 individual players invited to represent Far Northern NSW at the 2023 National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane in September 2023 are:

Hozan Almito, Aymen Hilo, Ayham Abas, Shadi Qasim, Will Dorrian, Myles Harris, Jared Frost, Tristan Finlayson, Stuart Parsons, Yasir Hakrash, Faris Solo, Eshad Huseyin, Dalshad Ibrahim, Sirwan Kudeedah, Dakheel Alkhalaf and Najmadeen Ahmed.

Congrats to all!!

ASC students Isaac Fawcett year 11 & Jason Eckley-Jones year 10 were amongest 400 people who took part in the 2 km Beach side Radiology Coffs Ocean Swim on Sunday 26 March 2023.

Both Isaac & Jason finished together in 37 minutes 22 seconds and were placed 45th & 46th Males (70th & 71st overall) out of (wait for it!) x 400 entrants.

Isaac & Jason were 4th & 5th respectively, in category, from 49 entries (aged between 14-19yrs).

Both Isaac & Jason have benefited from regular lessons at Armidale’s Harwood High Country Swimming Club.

Thanks to the awesome swim coaches Robyn Hean & James.

Open Boys Football/Soccer team

The ASC Open Boys and Girls teams travelled to Guyra Central School on Monday 27th March to compete in the Combined High Schools knockout. The girls team defeated Guyra 3-0. They boys team defeated Guyra 12-0. Both teams displayed outstanding sportsmanship and outstanding teamwork. The defence on both the Boys and Girls teams was well organised, effectively stopping all of Guyra’s attacking opportunities. The passing from both ASC sides created many attacking opportunities and well created goals. A big thanks to Guyra CS for organisation the day, making us feel welcome and being great sports. Congratulations to both of the ASC Boys and Girls teams.

Good Luck in the next round of the competition!

Regional Youth Orchestra

Michi Takayama, Oscar Gates, Alma Kanety and Jay Gates have been selected for the Regional Youth Orchestra. They will be attending a camp in Sydney in April where the orchestra will partner with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Youth Orchestra. They will perform at the Sydney Opera House on the 3rd of May. Congratulations and good luck!"

Congratulations to the Future Teachers Club who taught their very first lesson at Macquarie Fields High School! We are very proud of how well you are representing our school.
