ASC Showing Support on Pride Day

Science and Engineering Challenge 2023

Year 9 Science TEAL participated in the Highlands Science and Engineering Challenge 2023 today in Armidale. They participated in a range of STEM activities designed to test their teamwork, critical thinking, and engineering skills. This included challenges such as building an earthquake-proof apartment block, constructing a suspension system for a simply buggy to be used on Mars, and designing efficient codes to send messages along fibre optic rods using only pulses of coloured lights.

Students had an amazing day and overall placed 5 out of the 7 schools from the New England region. They should be commended on their school spirit and hard work throughout the day!

Sydney Academy of Chess Interschool Tournament...

ASC hosted the Sydney Academy of Chess Interschool Tournament again in 2023! This year we were lucky enough to host both Primary and Secondary schools from around the region. TAS brought a Primary and Secondary division and McCarthy Catholic College from Tamworth brought a tough team again this year. Armidale City Public school also attended and have some very strong players, soon to be Grand Masters.

With many close games ASC put up a fantastic fight and was able to bring home a convincing win with 23.5 points! TAS and McCarthy were magnificent players both over the board and in their conduct while at ASC, we would love to have them back next year.

Harmony Day

IEC

We are delighted to continue to enrol new students to the Armidale Intensive Centre with our numbers growing steadily with the enrolment of overseas students and new arrivals to Australia and Armidale.

At the end of this term we sadly say goodbye to three of our IEC graduates who will commence in ASC mainstream classes in Year 10 next term. They have been diligent learners and a delight to have in our IEC community. Our best wishes go with Sam, Zhiyuan and Ahmed.
