Dr Marshall Art Awards
Mrs Cooney would like to thank all the musicians who performed at the annual Dr Marshall Art & Design awards last Thursday evening: Charlotte Evans (Year 9), Sophia Huckel (Year 9) and the members of the Chamber ensemble: Emily Colbran (Year 12), Elizabeth Isbister (Year 8), Alex Stewart (Year 8), Hugo Lewczak (Year 7), Noah Yin (Year 8), and Iluka Horn (Year 9). This responsible and enthusiastic group of musicians provided high quality background music which enhanced the atmosphere at this exciting event. A number of these busy musicians were also involved in the Soirée and three performances of the Junior Production last week – we commend them for their commitment.
Christmas Service Rehearsal
There is a rehearsal for all musicians and singers involved in performing the carols at the annual Christmas Service Monday, 5th December in Period 2 and lunchtime.
Presentation Day
There will be a rehearsal for all music ensembles who will be performing at Presentation Day, on Tuesday, 6th December in the Sports Centre during Period 5. This includes the following ensembles: Chamber, Rock Band, Concert Band, Stage Band and Orchestra.
Flute Concert
Mrs Glindemann’s flute students will be performing a concert on Tuesday, 6th December. The concert will be in the Recital Room in the PAC, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Flute students from Year 3 to Year 12 will perform a variety of solo pieces, before combining and performing as a 15 piece Flute Ensemble! The concert is FREE and all are welcome to attend.
Orpheus Christmas Concert
Orpheus Strings will perform their final concert for 2022 on Sunday, 4th December, 3:00pm, at Katoomba Public School Hall. The concert will feature BMGS students past and present, performing a lovely array and variety of pieces.
Recall of hire instruments
The Music Department is now recalling all hire instruments for cleaning and servicing prior to the start of the 2023 school year. This is an important process to ensure that the instruments are in the best possible condition for our students next year. Instruments should be returned to the Music Office by Wednesday, 7th December or speak to our Music Administrator Ms Downs regarding holiday hire.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful musicians who have performed throughout the year at numerous events. Their ongoing commitment and contribution to the musical life of the school is greatly appreciated. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday and I look forward to seeing you back in our Ensembles again in 2023.
