Celebrating National Families Week 2022

This week we celebrate National Families Week which is a great reminder for us to spend quality time with family members, make contact with extended family and friends and share in the enjoyment of family activities within the wider community.

Pope Francis advises that

“A happy family life requires frequent use of 3 phrases: May I? Thank you and I’m sorry. Never never never end the day without making peace.”

Great advice to us all.

In celebration of National Families Week, a Family Mass at our Church has been organised for this Saturday, May 21st at 5.30 pm. Year 6 students and their families will be assisting with special jobs throughout the Mass but the whole community is invited. Each child will receive a small token from NFW Australia.

During the Mass, the Year 6 students will be gifted with a bottle of Holy Water to support their faith journey in preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Please come along with your family.

Everyone is welcome!

Here are a few more ideas about making this special week a family-friendly one.

Family: Teaching Children To Love What is True Value

A home is a school of love, where your children learn to put others, and ultimately God, first in their lives. What motivates you as a parent should motivate your children; children love what we love. But often our example and emotional example can undermine our best intentions.

It’s still Easter!

From Sydney Catholic Schools a special Easter video has been produced titled “Faith, Fun and Celebration - Easter.” Cheryl Fernandez and John Burland remind us of the story of Easter through dance and music.

May - Mary’s Month

A Calling Card for Heaven

The month of May is traditionally known as Mary’s month where we devote our prayers to her and participate in praying the Rosary.

Does your family pray the rosary? Would you like to begin it as a family tradition?  Marilyn Rodrigues gives us ideas and tips on how to begin and sustain this powerful ritual connecting families with Our Lady through prayer.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

This week, Year 6 students began preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. For four weeks the students will participate in a Confirmation session either on a Wednesday or a Thursday afternoon from 5pm - 6pm in the church.

For students not yet enrolled please contact Wendy Macken (Sacramental Coordinator) at the Parish Office - 9524 7283.

At the Family Mass celebrating National Families Week this Saturday, the students will receive a bottle of Holy Water reminding them of the first Sacrament of Initiation - Baptism.

Friday Fatima Friends

We had sporty fun last week and I was very impressed with the hula hoop, tossing, kicking, jumping and skipping skills of all the participants including the parents.

This week we have Storytime in the school’s Mercy Library. We will begin with prayer in Keller Hall and then enjoy the magic of books in the library.

What is Friday Fatima Friends?

Parents/carers of babies, toddlers and pre school children are invited to a 30 minute teacher directed session including  prayer, singing, dancing, art, craft, dancing, talking and listening, free play etc in Keller Hall. All you have to do is turn up with your child(ren) and join in the fun!

WEEK 4 - 20th May, 2022 -  Prayer in Keller Hall and then Storytime in the Mercy Library.

Wishing you much joy and happiness celebrating National Families Week with your family.

Don’t forget to do something special!
