Dear parents, carers and students,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Mrs. Caroline Willett and I am the new school counsellor at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School Caringbah. I feel excited to be welcomed to this happy school community and I look forward to working together with students and their families. Before my commencement at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School Caringbah I worked as a school counsellor at another primary school in the Sutherland Shire, and I have also been fortunate to work overseas as a school counsellor at an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School as well working in a variety of settings such not-for-profit organisations, tertiary education institutions, as well with domestic/family violence services.
School counselling support at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School Caringbah is a service provided by CatholicCare Sydney (CCS). School-based counselling is designed to be short term and solutions-focused. The overarching aim of school counselling is to provide counselling and other supports to students and their families and school community where there is stress, significant student underachievement, relationship or behavioural difficulties, mental health issues and other factors impacting on the student’s learning. Evidence suggests that when students are supported around issues their long-term educational outcomes are improved. School counselling can be provided individually or via group work, either in small groups or in a classroom setting.
I will be at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School Caringbah three days per week, and I look forward to getting to know the students, families and the wider school community.
Sincerely,
Caroline Willett
School Counsellor

Read on to see how healthy eating helps children and young people cope more effectively with stress, better manage their emotions and get a good sleep – all of which are essential for assist learning.
