Premier’s Reading Challenge

Students in Years 3-9 have had the opportunity in class to access their Premier’s Reading Challenge records themselves and enter the books they have read so far. Congratulations to students who have already completed the Challenge and had their reading records validated.

To date, 62 students in these year groups have completed the Challenge!

This includes:

13 students in Year 3

11 students in Year 4

 5 students in Year 5

 9 students in Year 6

10 students in Year 7

13 students in Year 8

 1 student in Year 9

For students in K-2 the library staff will shortly begin updating their Premier’s Reading Challenge records, using borrowing information from the Dr Ian Grant Library and by liaising with classroom teachers to include books that have been read in class and at home.

There is still time to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Recognising disruption due to COVID restrictions in some areas, the Premier’s Reading Challenge has now been extended for a further two weeks. The Challenge now closes for students on Friday, September 17, 2021.

CBCA Book Week 2021 (21-27August)

This year’s theme for CBCA Book Week is “Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds” which our Junior School students have been exploring in their classrooms.

We currently have the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s shortlisted books for 2021 on display in the Dr Ian Grant Library. The Junior School students have been able to share and enjoy many of these books during their visits to the library this term.

The 2021 Winner and Honour Books will be announced at noon on Friday, August 20 and we are looking forward to hearing who the winners are!

Students will be able to borrow all available shortlisted books at the conclusion of Book Week.
