Chess

The grand final of the Interhouse Chess Competition was played last week by the outdoor chess set so spectators could see the game unfold as Brandon Collins and Owen Ranby made their moves. Both boys were well prepared for the game and played with great strategy. Due to the time limit, the game came down to points and Brandon was declared this year’s Chess Champion. Congratulations Brandon!

Tournament of Minds

Our teams have been busy brainstorming and problem solving on their way to producing a solution to their long term challenges. It has been wonderful to watch the students developing their team spirit and building on each other’s ideas to come to rich storylines. They are now refining their scripts and working on designing props and costumes from recycled materials.

A reminder that the students will be coming into the College on Saturday 14 August from 1 – 4pm for final rehearsals and to film their solutions.

Mock Trial

Our Mock Trial team have once again put in hours of preparation for their latest trial against Snowy Mountains Grammar School. For this trial, our team were the defendants in a criminal case involving affray. The team put their defence forward strongly with the witnesses performing their roles with professionalism. The barristers made strong closing arguments and were able to confidently answer the questions put to them by the magistrate. In the end, Snowy Mountains Grammar won one part of the case and we won the other. Congratulations to the team for winning the round on points – a well deserved result!
