Year 7 Cricket SMR finals

On Tuesday 18 October our year 7 cricket team travelled to Duncan

Mckinnon Reserve to compete in the Southern Metropolitan Regional cricket finals.

The team had been training hard at lunchtimes and were keen to test their skills

against other schools. We narrowly lost our first game to Mount Eliza after some discrepancies in the scoring but the team gave it their best shot. The final score was 110 to 120 runs.

In our second game we rebounded strongly against Edenbrooke winning by 190 runs after an amazing bowling and fielding performance restricted them to minu 25 (Wickets equal minus five runs in this competition). Scarlett had a few run outs. When we batted we scored a huge total of 165 in eight overs. Stella, Willow and Scarlett hit lots of boundaries.

In our third game we played the highly fancied Brighton Secondary College team who restricted us to just 49 runs despite some late hitting from Isla. With some excellent bowling and fielding we managed to hold Brighton to only 28 runs.

Our last game was against Frankston Secondary College and we easily won by

almost 100. In the end the winning team to progress through to state finals came

down to a three-way tie breaker. We ended up being runners up by just two runs.

We were very unlucky but everybody on the team contributed amazingly on the day and showed their skills. A big shout out to Mr Evans for driving, supervising and giving the team all his knowledge.

Borrowed sport uniform

A reminder to all students and families as we draw towards the end of our sporting calendar to ensure that any borrowed sport uniform including athletic singlets, football jumpers, soccer tops or socks must be returned to Ms Parker in the Gym office prior to the conclusion of the year.
