Interested in Stargazing?

The Central West Astronomical Society is running a stargazing evening in Cowra during September. Several of our members will operate telescopes for people to view the Moon, planets, stars and the Milky Way in the night sky.

When:  6-9pm, Friday 14 September

Where: Holman Oval, Vaux St, Cowra

What to bring: Just yourself and warm clothes

Obviously, the event depends on the weather, but we will go ahead if there is at least some clear sky to look at.

No Interest Loan Scheme available in Cowra

No Interest Loan Scheme enables families to meet back to school costs.  Rising costs are leaving many parents struggling to afford back to school expense - particularly as the need to provide children with laptops and tablets becomes more widespread.  This is especially significant for students entering high school for the first time.  No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) can be used for school expenses including books, uniforms, camps, laptops and tablets.

NILS provides individuals and families on low incomes with access to safe, fair and affordable loans of up to $1,500.  There are no fees, no interest and no charges.  Importantly, each client has an affordable repayment plan designed around them, so repayments don't put further pressure on the borrower's finances.

Without NILS, many families will turn to high cost alternatives such as payday loans and 'rent to buy'.  These fringe credit products often cause significant financial hardship and can entrench financial hardship.

Cowra families can learn more about NILS by visiting www.nils.com.au, or by calling Cowra Neighbourhood and Information Centre on 6340 1100.
