FOOTBALL SEASON WRAP-UP

In for a good time, but not a long time: while the condensed football season finished off a week earlier than we had hoped, the College’s football program saw plenty of success and highlights. With strong performances across the shortened season, our secondary teams made 14 out of a possible 23 grand finals - I am sure we were the envy of the AIC! I would particularly like to mention those aggregate teams making finals: 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, 10B, 9A, 8A, 8B, 7A and 7B. No matter the age, division or results on match-day, congratulations to all participants of Football in 2020!

Of course, a season of Football does not come together without the help of many people across a variety of roles and responsibilities. My sincerest thanks to all involved, particularly the coaching staff and age coordinators (Mr Jamie Morgan, Mr Jorge Ruiz, Mr Marcus Schrader, Mr Brett Carroll, Mr Zach Woodward & Mr Matthew Jones) who spent many hours working out the best way to get the most out of the players, and for the players to get the most out of the season. A big Thank You to the Sports Office, Grounds and Canteen staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the equipment, information, venues and facilities were all in peak condition to bring everything together on match-day. A final and massive thank you to the keen student referees who put their hand up to take on the integral responsibility of officiating our matches – certainly some unsung heroes of the season!

To all supporters of the College’s Football program: whether your was role cheering-on or kicking goals, dropping off or setting-up, making burgers or tactical decisions – your inclusion has added to the continued success of what we can offer. Looking forward to seeing you on and around the pitch for a (hopefully) full season in 2021!

Kind regards
