AIC Track and Field

COORDINATOR

What an interesting time we now have ahead of us. With Track & Field being held at the end of Week 1 in Term 4 the next two weeks of the holidays will be a big challenge. All athletes are asked to make sure they know when training is on via emails and the College APP and be attending all sessions for their events. The next two weeks will have a big impact on how we perform in Week 1 next term. As we finalise the rugby and football seasons all boys are now urged to turn their attention to their final Track and Field preparations. Please see the info below.

AIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Friday, 9 October and Saturday, 10 October at QSAC (1st week back!)

HOLIDAYS – Crucial!!

We will be releasing this schedule over the weekend but boys should be prepared to train as often as possible. We have planned two competitions meets on Friday of each week of the holidays in which boys must also attend as a priority. Selections will be made from performances at these competitions.

All athletes who are selected in the FINAL Track and Field squad will attend the AIC championships regardless of whether they are competing or not. Every member of the squad has contributed to the strength of our team and will be a valuable member of the team.

FINAL SELECTIONS

Final selections will be based on performance, attendance at training, and what is in the best interest of the entire squad (e.g. some boys may be asked to do events they are not necessarily training for and they are the best we have).

The final AIC event selections will be made after the holiday competition meets we are attending and organising ourselves. We will have a team training session on Tuesday, 6 October where the team will be announced.

The final ASH team is nominated to AIC on Tuesday, 6 October.

There are 138 events contested at the AIC Championships and over 90 students will compete for Marist College Ashgrove at this competition. Every student’s contribution is extremely valuable and as a result, any improvements we can make over the remaining 4 weeks are vital to our chance of success. Good luck to all students for the remaining weeks of training and competition!
