National Simultaneous Storytime

Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, family homes, bookshops and many other places around Australia.

This year’s National Simultaneous Storytime will be held on Wednesday 19 May 2021 at 11:00am. At this time, Give Me Some Space written and illustrated by Philip Bunting (see image), will be read by the astronaut Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station!

National Simultaneous Storytime will be broadcast live in the Dr Ian Grant Library next Wednesday at 11am. Junior School Bookclub will have the opportunity to participate in this special reading event but all students are invited to attend.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

Using their unique username and password, most students in Years 5-9 have had the opportunity in the past few weeks to log on and enter the books they have read so far for the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge. We have seen a number of our students already complete the challenge by reading the required number of books for their year group. Congratulations to those students!

In upcoming weeks the library staff will be working with classroom teachers to assist students in Years K-4 in also entering their books for the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge.

We encourage students with any questions about the Premier’s Reading Challenge to make contact with us in the library. Further information about the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge can  also be found at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/

Overdue Books

Can we please remind students that all books borrowed in Term 1 must be returned to the Library, as they are now well-overdue. Please be mindful of other students who also wish to borrow library books and adhere to the three week time limit on loans.
