Year 6 Exhibition

PYP Exhibition

Dear Mount View Parents,

Come to Mount View Primary School on the evening of Thursday, 12th September, at 6:45 - 8:15pm for our PYP Exhibition night!

This is a Mount View event, rather than a Year 6 event. The purpose of the Exhibition is to display the Year 6 students’ understanding and to celebrate their success as learners, working within the framework of the PYP. It is an opportunity for students to bring together all the subject disciplines and utilise all the transdisciplinary skills they have been learning through their time at school, over seven years. It is conducted independently, though teachers have provided some support in the form of suggestions and constructive feedback.

The focus is on the transdisciplinary theme, ‘Who We Are’. Working as part of a collaborative group, students have come up with a central idea on an area of interest, researched it, and taken action. They have designed a project that will communicate their experience and their action in a way that they chose.

As a result of this investigation, the task is for students to educate others and convince them to take some form of positive action. Findings are presented in the form of an exhibit. Exhibits are completed independently, without teacher/parent intervention, to reflect a true understanding of the task, the chosen issue, and students’ skills in developing, conducting, assessing and presenting the results of an investigation.

There has been a healthy level of collaboration and energy in the classrooms and shared spaces this term. It is encouraging to see students so engaged in their learning and so supportive of each other in the process. We are excited to share these presentations with everyone.

The evening will begin with a welcome and introduction in the PE Centre at 6.45pm, followed by a chance to wander through the Senior Learning Centre viewing the students’ exhibits and asking them questions about their learning journey. The Exhibition will be open until 8.15pm.

We hope you enjoy Exhibition!

Regards,

The Year 6 Teaching Team
