Principal's Report

Year 7 Camp
The year 7 camp was held last week at the Briars in Mt Martha. The students were involved in a number of different team building and personally challenging activities. A huge thanks to all the staff that attended the camp. The students had a great time, and I am sure will have many lifelong memories.
Athletics
The College held its annual Year 5 to Year 12 athletics carnival on Tuesday 10 March. Despite being the day after a long weekend attendance was well up on previous years. Students were awarded additional house points if they were dressed up in costumes or wore their house colors. As starting marshal, it was apparent that there was a significant increase in the number of students that competed. Thanks to David Crow, his support staff and the teachers/ESS for all of their hard work in making these events happen
NAPLAN
Students in years 3, 5 ,7 and 9 have just started undertaking their 2026 NAPLAN assessments. Once again there was a hick up with the Department server crashing on the first day. Huge thanks to Linda C for all of her hard work in scheduling and running the NAPLAN and to Kim M for her IZT support
Open Night
We have our annual Open night on Wednesday 25 March. This night is for prospective Year 7 students and parents and it provides an opportunity for us to showcase the school. The open night begins at 6pm and will be held in G block. A short presentation and music performance will be held in the College theatre at 6.45pm
Possible teacher strike
The Australian Education Union has notified the Education Department that teachers and Education Support Staff are intending to strike on Tuesday 24 March. At this stage the strike has not been confirmed and if it goes ahead, the school will be running a modified timetable on that day which may result in some year levels being required to remain at home. I will provide the school community with relevant information as it comes to hand. Please note that this information may be quite late as there are strict guidelines regarding when staff notify the school of their intentions to strike.
Primary Swimming carnival
Students from Years 1 to 6 attended the primary swimming carnival on Wednesday 11 March. The carnival was held at the Yarra Swim School and involved both competitive events and fun activities. Many thanks to the staff for making this such a memorable day for our students.
