I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages, thoughtful gestures and warm wishes shared with me on World Principal's Day last week. I stepped into an office filled with streamers and chocolates, followed by a lovely morning tea and many kind messages from our students. I thorougly enjoy being the Principal of Bittern PS. It is privelege to support students, work with great staff, build strong relationships with families and see our community grow. Thankyou everyone!

ISAC STEM challenge

I was immensely proud of our Senior students last week at the ISAC challenge hosted by Rotary Club of Somerville Tyabb.  Our young leaders were given the brief to build a bridge that could withstand as much weight as possible.  This challenge required our students to apply their science, maths and technology skills as well as work effectively as a team.  We may not have been the winning team but it was an impressive display of co-operation, expertise and persistance. Well done Max, Robin, Kaden, Marley,  Maya, Maddie, Melissa and Dakota. A huge thankyou to Ms Mac, Ms Bacon and Ms Burton for coaching and mentoring our young engineers.

What are our students saying about our school?

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

We encourage you to complete this online survey. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

Book Week

This week is book week at BPS. This is due to swimming next week. We have been so fortunate to have some of our talented parents who are accomplished authors host a workshop with all of our classes.

We will publish more about these workshops in the next edition of the Bittern Buzz, however I would like to thank Sascha Elks, Wendy Elks and Megan Rogers for sharing their experiences and skills with our young learners and inspiring them to become creative writers.

Just a reminder that our dress up parade is on Friday morning this week. Please ensure that your child has a book week costume that reflects a appropriate book for primary school children.

Please join us for our annual parade in the BER from 9 - 9.30am on Friday.

The Spring weather is rapidly approaching and it is pleasing to put the cold, wet wintry weather behind us. Bring on Spring!
