Old Girtonians Shine in Priscilla at Ulumbarra Theatre
Earlier this month, Ulumbarra Theatre blazed with the colour, music and heart of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, in a spectacular production by the Bendigo Theatre Company. From the stage to the wings, and from the spotlight to the marketing team, Old Girtonians played a vital role in bringing this beloved show to life!
Based on the iconic Australian film, Priscilla follows the journey of three friends travelling through the outback in search of love, acceptance and belonging. This Bendigo Theatre Company production embraced both the scale and spirit of the show, featuring elaborate costumes, dynamic choreography and dazzling design, while staying true to its powerful message of authenticity and self-acceptance.
Girton had a proud presence throughout the production, with Old Girtonians, current staff and students contributing both on stage and behind the scenes:
Old Girtonians involved in Priscilla: James Forbes (Aherne 2024), Max Beever (Frew 2019), Bailey Dolan (Aherne 2024), Kaddison Kearin (Frew 2015), Cayden Kearin (Frew 2014), Alannah Warren (Frew 2024), Alex Zegelin (Aherne 2012), Calum McClure (2001), Michaela Hulme (Aherne 2018), Bevan Madden (Riley 2014).

It is a wonderful reminder that the creativity and passion we nurture at Girton continues to enrich our broader community long after graduation. Congratulations to all involved on a truly spectacular show.
With around 90 people involved across cast, crew and production, the show highlights the strength of community theatre and the creativity within our region. It is wonderful to see Old Girtonians contributing so broadly, enriching Bendigo’s vibrant arts scene and demonstrating the impact of collaboration, passion and community connection.
