BIOLOGY - GTAC

YEAR 11 BIOLOGY

Our 2026 Year 11 Biology class had an exciting day at GTAC in Melbourne!

They strengthened their microscopy skills, learned cell-staining techniques, and explored how these tools help scientists study diseases.

Students investigated cell structure, function and behaviour through an inquiry cycle—testing ideas, capturing images and videos at different magnifications, and choosing the staining methods that best suited their experiments.

To finish the day, they put their new skills to the test using fluorescence microscopes to investigate a real disease case and develop a hypothesis about its cause. An inspiring hands-on experience for our budding scientists!
