SGSMP

SUMMER FESTIVAL
This year’s SGSMP Summer Festival was a vibrant celebration of learning, collaboration, and musical growth. Our workshops were filled with curiosity and creativity, and the end-of-year performance showcased the remarkable progress our students made throughout the season. A standout moment came from the Vocal Group, whose fantastic harmonies in Missy Higgins’ The Sound of White captivated the audience. The Senior Band delivered an impressive performance of Ocean Blue, demonstrating superb dynamic control and ensemble sensitivity. Our Guitar Ensembles shone with their complex articulation in Everybody Wants to Rule the World, while the Year 12 Band brought irresistible energy and a funky flair to Love Shack. We were equally proud of the Junior Band and Senior Guitar Ensemble, both of whom performed with confidence, musicality, and enthusiasm.
We also extend our warmest congratulations to Violet and April Jolly, recipients of this year’s scholarships generously supported by our new sponsors, Martin Carlson and the SoundHouse Foundation. Their dedication and passion for music make them truly deserving of this recognition. Together, these achievements reflect the talent, hard work, and supportive spirit of our SGSMP community—an inspiring end to a wonderful festival season.
We extend our sincere thanks to Ms Handley, Ms Reymers, Ms Kennedy, Mr Abicare, Mr Beale, Mr Brandsma, Mr John, Ms McMaster, Ms Franssen and Mr Foon for their outstanding work within the SGSMP. We also acknowledge the support of our partners—the Korumburra Lions Club, Martin Carlson, and Soundhouse—and the many parents and carers who assist with home practice and early-morning rehearsal drop-offs.
Thank you for helping make 2025 a memorable musical year.
MARTIN CARLSON FOUNDATION
We are thrilled to congratulate Violet and April Jolly, recipients of this year’s scholarships generously supported by our new sponsors—Martin Carlson, the SoundHouse Music Alliance, and Music for All. As 2025 marked the pilot year for the foundation’s involvement, we are incredibly grateful for their support of our students and music program. We also had support from Sarah Lawless from the LLEN and Mark Tudor from Vocational Education & Training.
Violet and April’s dedication and passion for music make them truly deserving of this recognition. Their scholarships include a full year of free instrument hire and tuition, and they will also take on the exciting role of Music Ambassadors for KSC.
These achievements highlight the talent, hard work, and supportive spirit of our SGSMP community—an inspiring way to conclude a wonderful festival season.
