Principal's Report

Term 3 is certainly flying by, and we have another busy few weeks ahead across both campuses. There are lots of wonderful events and learning experiences coming up, and we look forward to sharing these with our students, families and wider school community.

Science Week 2026

This week we are celebrating National Science Week, with students taking part in a range of fun, hands-on science activities across both campuses. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore, investigate, ask questions and develop their curiosity about the world around them.

Book Fair

Our Book Fair is coming up and will be held at both campuses from Wednesday, 26 August to Tuesday, 1 September. Students will have the opportunity to browse the great range of books and will complete their Book Fair wish lists on Thursday.

The Book Fair will be open all day on Friday for our Special Person’s Day celebrations, giving families and special people the opportunity to visit the fair with their children and purchase books.

We will also be holding a Book Fair Colouring Competition! Colouring sheets will be sent home on Monday and need to be returned by Thursday. All entries will be displayed at school, with the winners announced during our Special Person’s Day celebrations on Friday.

Supporting our Book Fair is a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading while also helping our school earn additional books and resources for our students.

Curriculum Day – Friday, 4 September

Our upcoming Curriculum Day will be held on Friday, 4 September, with staff completing the fourth and final day of our Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) training. BSEM provides practical, evidence-informed strategies that support student wellbeing, engagement and learning, with a strong focus on building positive relationships, self-regulation, resilience and creating safe and supportive learning environments. This final day of training will build on the work we have completed so far and support staff to continue embedding consistent BSEM practices across both campuses.

Senior School Camp

Our Senior students are getting very excited for their upcoming camp to Sovereign Hill from Monday, 7 September to Wednesday, 9 September. Camp is always a highlight of the year and provides students with a wonderful opportunity to build independence, strengthen friendships and enjoy new learning experiences beyond the classroom. Students will have the chance to step back in time and experience life on the goldfields while creating some fantastic memories with their classmates. We are looking forward to a wonderful few days away together! A reminder to families to please return all medical forms by Thursday, 3 September. Further information, including what students need to bring, departure and return times, and other important camp details, will be sent home on Monday next week.

Father’s Day Plans

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our Father’s Day survey. The feedback was very clear, with the majority of families preferring for students to make something special at school to take home rather than holding a Father’s Day event. Based on this feedback, students will create something special to take home and share with their dad or special person for Father’s Day. Our Father’s Day Stall will also be held on Thursday, 3 September at both campuses, with more information to come closer to the date. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and helping us plan celebrations that work for our families. We will send out another survey next year to give families the opportunity to have their say again.

2027 Prep Transition

We are looking forward to welcoming our 2027 Prep students and families as our transition program begins later this term. Our transition sessions provide children with opportunities to become familiar with our school, staff and other students before beginning Prep next year.

2027 Prep Transition Dates:

  • Friday, 11 September – All together at Millgrove – Kinder Gym, 11:00am–11:30am
  • Friday, 9 October – Session 1: Play to Learn
  • Wednesday, 28 October – Session 2: PE
  • Monday, 16 November – Session 3: Art
  • Tuesday, 6 December – State-wide Transition

Further information about each session will be provided to our 2027 Prep families closer to the dates.

Footy Colours Day

We will be celebrating Footy Colours Day on the last day of Term 3! Students are encouraged to come dressed in their favourite team colours and help us raise funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation. Families can support the day by making a donation through our Millwarra Primary School Footy Colours Day fundraising page. More details about the day will be sent home via Compass soon.

School Tours

We continue to welcome enrolment enquiries from families considering their schooling options. Tours of both campuses are available throughout the year and are a great opportunity to see our school in action, learn more about our programs and meet our wonderful staff.

If you know of a family who may be interested in joining the Millwarra community, please encourage them to contact the school office to arrange a tour.
