Bullying No Way - National Week of Action against Bullying and Violence
As part of Bullying No Way Week, students learned about what bullying can look like and how we can help prevent it. We discussed the importance of speaking up, including others, being an upstander and seeking help from a trusted adult. Below are some of the messages our students shared about helping everyone feel safe and included at school.
Don’t be mean to people. Always be kind. If someone is getting bullied, tell a teacher after trying to tell them to stop first.
Tyson
Always be kind in the playground. Always let everyone join your game.
William
How to stop someone from bullying you: If someone bullies you verbally, you can just ignore them…. or be on their side so then you won’t give them the reaction that they want. They want your annoyed reaction or you to be hurt, so if you don’t give them that reaction, then they will get annoyed.
Raven
If you are feeling confident, you can try standing up to someone being mean to someone, or just ask a Senior for help.

Things I can do to help stop Bullying: Tell the Teacher. Walk away. Tell the principal. Tell Mum and Dad.
Will
If someone is calling you names, you can ignore it first. Then try asking a big kid to help, and if that doesn’t work, tell an adult.
Chloe
Ignore the bully and walk away. Tell an adult or a friend if you still need help.
Declan
We can tell a teacher if we need help.
Monique
1. Tell a trusted adult/teacher.
2. If you can, try to stop the bullying.
3. Try to keep some evidence (Like recording a video if your school has permission to use phones).
4. If the bully is hurting your feelings (Like saying that you need a haircut) You can reply back saying "yeah I do need a haircut".
Jake
If someone is bullying you you can tell a trusted adult like a teacher or your parents. Do not do what they did to you back or it may become worse.
If a kind friend sees you getting bullied then they will tell a trusted adult. If you see a teacher run and tell them. Hope these things work.
Jack
Alright, so I have some ideas for this year's Bullying No Way Week, and they are (obviously) for helping preventing or getting away from bullying.
1. Tell your issue to teachers, parents, guardians, or any kind of adult. They should resolve the issue.
2. When the issue becomes more serious, ask a bigger kid to try and resolve the issue. If that fails, resort to idea 1.
And the last idea from this list:
3. Try and ignore them. ONLY use this if the issue isn't a major problem.
I really hope I can stop bullying around the country, even if it's only a small amount stopped, and I also really hope these ideas work!
Steven
If someone is bullying someone else: I will help them away from the bully.
If a bully is stealing someone's stuff or my stuff: I will take the stuff back and then get a teacher.
If a bully is hurting me or someone: I will distract the bully and get the kid that was being hurt away from the bully and get a teacher.
Abi
Ways to help with bullying issues:
1. Ignore them.
2. Agree to everything they say.
3. Tell someone that is in a higher grade or a teacher or parents.
4. Laugh at them with your friends later, how sad that they are.
5. Just walk away.
If it is physical here is what you should do:
1. Tell a parent.
2. Tell the school.
If on the internet:
1. Leave the game.
2. Report it.
3. Delete the game and get a safer one

Things we could do to help/stop bullying.
- Be an upstander, not a bystander. Which means to stand up for the person who is being bullied and not ignore it.
- If you were the person being bullied, you could agree and that will make them feel like, “oh, they're not upset, I'll stop now”
- If they're chasing you, stop running so they can’t, and if they hurt you, they will be in trouble, if they don't, they will leave you alone.
- If you’re getting bullied, ignore them and if they grab you to make you listen, they’re in trouble.
And don't make a big deal of nothing. You got this!
