Year 11 Sports Competition

In the lead-up to their final examinations, our Year 11 students had the opportunity to take part in a lunchtime sports competition, organised and coordinated by our dedicated Year Ambassadors. 

Students competed in teams of friendship groups across four sports - basketball, soccer, futsal and volleyball — bringing plenty of energy, enthusiasm and healthy competition to the playing fields and courts. The competition provided a welcome opportunity for students to get active, connect with their peers and, importantly, relieve some of the stress that can build in the lead-up to exams.

Beyond the competition itself, the event highlighted the importance of balance during a demanding time of the academic year. The boys who participated enjoyed a chance to reset, have fun, and engage in some friendly rivalry with their peers, while strengthening the sense of camaraderie across the Year 11 cohort.

Thank you to our Year 11 Year Ambassadors, Jonah K, Sarkis F, Ruben R, and William G - their initiative, organisation and leadership provided a positive and engaging experience for their peers and demonstrated the value of student leadership in building community.

I wish the Year 11 cohort the best of luck as the Year 11 Final Examinations continue.

2026 JM Shield Touch Football Match 

The return of Year 12 after their Trial HSC examinations set the stage for the annual JM Shield match, a tradition that continues to celebrate leadership, camaraderie, and friendly rivalry at the College. This year’s fixture brought together two significant groups: the outgoing Year 12 Leadership Team and the newly elected Year 11 Student Leaders, facing off in a spirited game of OzTag on Breen Oval. 

The contest was fast-paced and good‑humoured, with both teams showing moments of sharp skill, determination, and genuine school spirit. Year 12 took an early advantage through Coghlan Prefect Jack E, followed by tries from Vice Captain Ryan S, College Captain Francesco M, and Year 8 Prefect Jacob K. Year 11 responded strongly in the second half, with Charlie G and Luca S narrowing the margin, but Year 12 ultimately held firm to secure a 4–2 victory. 

Established in 2016 by the Student Leadership Team in honour of Deputy Principal Mr John Murphy, the JM Shield has grown into a much‑loved event that symbolises both competition and connection across the senior years. This year’s match once again highlighted the passing of the leadership baton - a moment where the graduating cohort acknowledges the next group stepping forward.
