¡Hola y Bienvenido!

Welcome to Spanish for Term 3 & 4, 2025!

I am Mrs. Ashwini Shirke (Mrs. S). I have recently joined the wonderful teaching team here at Grayling and I already feel so welcomed by the students and staff. It’s a joy to be part of such a vibrant and supportive school community.

If you were in Performing Arts last semester, you’ll now be diving into the wonderful world of Spanish with me. I’m so excited to be your Spanish and STEM teacher this semester!

A little about me— I’m a busy mum of three amazing girls. I’ve always been passionate about helping students enjoy their learning, especially when it comes to subjects I love; Science, Maths, and of course, Spanish!

When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me reading a good book, travelling, creating art, singing, or directing plays—I love anything creative and expressive.

This term, we’ve started by learning some basic greetings in Spanish and exploring how the Spanish language has evolved over time. We've also taken a look at the history of the language and located Spain—as well as other Spanish-speaking countries—on the map.

It is so pleasing to hear cheerful “¡Hola, Mrs. S!” greetings around the yard and hear “¡Gracias!” as students show their enthusiasm and curiosity in class. It’s clear many of the students are excited to learn something new, and that makes our learning space even more enjoyable!

I’m really looking forward to our journey together this semester. Let’s make learning Spanish fun, engaging, and full of discovery. Please feel free to drop by the Spanish classroom anytime—I’d love to say ¡Hola!
