Relieving Principal's Message

What a term! Term 3 has been a busy, productive, creative and exciting term, with so much to celebrate at Granville East.

One of the highlights of the term was our participation in Gimbawali at the Opera House. Our senior choir, dance group and mob dance students performed so beautifully, entertaining thousands of audience members with their magic. I would like to thank Ms Leigh (dance)  Ms Ward and Ms Drar (senior choir) and Mrs Srinivasan (mob dance) for taking these groups, giving their personal time over many months to bring their performances to life. I would also like to thank Mrs Mellish, Miss Kopuz and Mrs Gupta who supported the performers on the day.

We also enjoyed the amazing Mini-Fete this term, when our Stage 3 students became entrepreneurs as fund raisers, raising money for Year 6 end-of-year activities, and learning about planning and budgeting along with way. The students raised over $2700- what a great success!

Other extraordinary events include the Book Fair, PSSA finals, the P&C Father's Day Stall, cultural cuppa events,  and so much more. And of course I can't forget the incredible day we had together at our Performance Day, where every student in the school took to the stage. I was so grateful to see so many families there, supporting your children and our school. Thank you for being part of it.

I'd like to congratulate 3/4 Blazing Minds- the winners of our "Hats Blitz" this term. I hope they enjoyed their prize of a long lunch and icy poles to celebrate. Please help your children to be in the running in the future by making sure they bring their hat to school, and wear it, every day. 

You will also be aware that we are getting closer and closer to our Granville East Public Preschool opening. We were fortunate to have some families enjoy a walk through as part of our Cultural Cuppa program last Monday. WOW was pretty much the reaction from everyone. The preschool has become a beautiful, warm space- and we can't wait to see it transformed sometime early next term when we will welcome our youngest learners to join our school. 

I am looking forward to being back at Granville East next term. Thank you to our whole community for your warm and kind welcome.
