Principal's Report 

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well, the end of term three is fast approaching, what another successful term it has been. From incursions and excursions, to Tournament of Minds and Wakakirri, to District and Regional Athletics, to Father's Day, Book Week and Footy Day. Every term seems to be jam-packed with exciting events and opportunities for students and families. Of course all of these are only possible through the support of the staff and families across our community - so to you all, thank you for your assistance. 

Next term will be no less busy with our art show in October, district chess championships held here in early December, swimming, graduation, transition and step up day to round the year off. 

Speaking of transition, there are still some families with siblings who have yet to enrol for prep next year. The first of our transition mornings occur in October, and to be a part of that students must be enrolled.  So if you haven't done so yet, please get enrolment forms in as soon as possible. 

A huge congratulations to all of our students who recently competed at the Regional Athletics Carnival. They did an amazing job getting to this stage and each represented Mackellar and our network exceptionally well. An even bigger congratulations to Katie Darcy and Noa Momo who both qualified for the Divisional Championships in October with Katie in high jump and Noa in shot put. We wish both of these students all the very best for the next stage in their athletics journey. 

Next term we will be asking parents of current grade four and five students for a camp deposit if they would like their child to attend the Phillip Island camp in May, 2027. Whilst a long way off at the moment, the camp will cost somewhere around $600 per student, so we aim to give parents as much time as possible to pay for the camp should they wish their child to attend.  More camp information will be coming out in term four - so stay tuned. 

Next term we will also be holding swimming lessons for students in grades prep to four. These lessons happen at the very end of the year with costs still being finalised.  Once again we try to let parents know early so they budget accordingly as we would love each student in prep to grade four to attend. 

A reminder once again that hats are compulsory next term. These need to be broad-brimmed or bucket hats, preferably in school colours. Students without hats, or the appropriate hats, will remain in the shade for the duration of recess and/or lunch. Hats are available from State School Relief, our uniform supplier. 

Finally, a reminder that the last day of term is this Friday September 18. It is also footy dress-up day and footy lunch day. Whilst sadly the Bulldogs are out of the finals, I'll be in my red, white and blue. If students prefer to wear colours from a different sport they are welcome to. On this day, school will finish at 2:30pm with TheirCare available from then.
