Performing Arts

'Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.' - Alan Rickman.

Level 5/6 students have been busy rehearsing their end of year Christmas carols. They have been working on learning the lyrics and movements to coordinate with their given song.

At the end of last term, students enjoyed Drama games involving 'Night at the Museum' and 'Space Jump' and researching the history of music.

For the end of year Christmas Extravaganza: 5/6P will be performing 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year', 5/6V will be performing 'Sleigh Ride', 5/6S will be performing 'Jingle Bell Rock' and 5/6M will be performing 'Run, Run Rudolph'. As a cohort, the Level 5/6 students will be performing 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree'.

Lots of excitement surrounding the end of year performance and different speaking roles available has been shared amongst Level 5/6. An expressions of interest sign-up sheet has been put up outside of the Performing Arts room so if you are keen on auditioning for a lead role, please remember to write your name on the available sheets.

(Please note that this is only available to Level 5/6 students).

Level 3/4 students have also been busy rehearsing their end of year Christmas carols. They have been working on coordinating movements to perform along to the lyrics. Students have been continuing to enjoy recreating stories using freeze frames for Drama and moving their bodies in different ways to show emotions through movement. They have become whizz's at identifying spaces, lines and notes on the Treble and Bass Clef staffs.

For the end of year Christmas Extravaganza: 3/4A will be performing 'I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday', 3/4J will be performing 'Last Christmas', 3/4P will be performing 'Do They Know It's Christmas' and 3/4W will be performing 'Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer'. As a cohort, the Level 3/4 students will be performing 'Deck the Halls'.

More information regarding Rolling Hills Primary School's Christmas Extravaganza is yet to come, however, please save the date of Tuesday 28th November in your diaries!

Keep shining,

Mrs Oakley.
