Wellbeing Report

What a wonderful Term 1 we have had at Millwarra Primary School. Now it is time for a well deserved break and some very special family time.

In Wellbeing

This past fortnight in Wellbeing, students have been looking at their families, comparing the similarities and differences with their peers, as well as the things that make their family special. It was so much fun hearing about the celebrations families have, the quirky names they call each other, and the holiday traditions they look forward to.

Our juniors have also been exploring consent and how to say no if they are feeling uncomfortable. I was really proud of all our students and their ability to be assertive when it is necessary. They also learnt a song which you can explore together at home called The Boundaries Song – "That's a Boundary" Safety Song for Kids on YouTube.

Wellbeing in Term 2 at Millwarra P.S.

Next term, we have a lot of wonderful things planned at Millwarra. Our Year 5 students will be undertaking a Leadership Program where they develop skills and strategies to amplify student voice in our school.

The whole school will also be participating in a martial arts program which will focus on respect, self control, confidence, and perseverance.

We will also be commencing our Student School Council.

Our representatives for Term 2 at Warburton East are Aspen, Tyson, Leo.B, Vinnie, Zander, JJ, and Lilly P.

Our representatives for Term 2 at Millgrove are Declan, Abi, Monique, Loki, and Casey.

How to generate conversations with your child about school

It can sometimes be difficult to find out what your child did at school during the day, often you are met with very little detail. Then, just as it is time for bed, they are suddenly ready to share a full rundown of everything that happened.

Some simple conversation starters you could use on the drive home or over dinner could include (try to choose one each day):

  • What was the best part of your day?
  • What is one thing you learned today that you didn't know yesterday?
  • Did you do anything nice for someone, or did someone do something nice for you today?
  • If you could change one thing about your day, what would it be?
  • What is something you saw today that made you think?
