Principal's Report

What a wonderful term it has been at Millwarra Primary School. It has been fantastic to see our students engaged in their learning, building connections and embracing all that school life has to offer.
Junior and Senior Days
Over the past two weeks, it has been wonderful to bring our Junior and Senior students together for dedicated days at each campus. These days provided a valuable opportunity for students to build relationships, strengthen teamwork skills and connect across campuses, while teachers worked collaboratively to plan for next term. The positive energy and sense of community across both days was fantastic to see.
National eSmart Week
This week is National eSmart Week and on Tuesday many of our students took part in an online storytime webinar hosted by eSmart. Through the session, students explored the importance of consent in both everyday and online situations, learning how to ask for permission, respect a “no” and make safe, respectful choices when sharing information about others. The story featured in the webinar was written by Darcy Wright and Annette Woods, and illustrated by Phoebe Zeng, as part of the Stories by Digital Children competition.
Senior Athletics Day
Our senior students had a fantastic day at the Athletics Day yesterday at Upper Yarra Secondary College. I was extremely proud of every single student for the way they represented our school, consistently demonstrating our school values throughout the day. Whether they were competing, cheering others on, or simply giving things a go, their positive attitude and sportsmanship was outstanding. Each student should feel incredibly proud of their efforts, they truly did our whole school community proud.
Celebration Day
Our Term 1 Celebration Day was a huge success and a wonderful way to bring the whole school together. Students enjoyed a range of activities including House games, an Easter egg hunt and the always-popular Easter Bonnet Parade. We finished the day with a Whole School Assembly where our Term Award winners were announced. To top it all off, a special visit from the Easter Bunny brought plenty of excitement and smiles!
Parent Fundraising Committee
I would like to extend a huge thank you to our amazing Parent Fundraising Committee for their hard work in organising the Easter Raffle. Thank you also to our wonderful school community for your generous donations and support in selling tickets. Together, we raised over $1,000, which will go towards new sports equipment for our students. Next term, we will work with both parents and students to decide how these funds will be spent. I look forward to the many great things we can continue to achieve together to make our school even better.
School Tours
Student tours across all year levels are already underway this year. If you’re interested in seeing our school in action, please call or email to arrange a time that suits you. Information packs are also available from the office for families who would like to learn more about the programs and opportunities at Millwarra Primary School.
Wishing all of our families a very Happy Easter and a safe, relaxing holiday break. I hope you enjoy some well-earned time together and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, 20th April. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
