MIDDLE SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends
Term 2 Expectations and Reminders
As we begin Term 2, we would like to thank our students, families, and staff for their ongoing support in creating a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment across our school. This term, we will continue to reinforce our high expectations while also recognising and celebrating the many students who consistently demonstrate our school values each day. Please refer to School Expectations and Reminders.
Welcome Back to Term 2
Term 2 has started positively, with Middle School students already making the most of a range of opportunities and experiences. We’ve had students proudly represent Frankston High School at State Swimming, achieving impressive results, and celebrating 100% attendance with a well-earned pizza lunch.
Our students also demonstrated respect and reflection through their participation in the ANZAC Day School Service at the War Memorial at Beauty Park on Friday 24 April, followed by outstanding performances at our School Cross Country on Wednesday 29 April.
We began the term with year level assemblies focused on one of our core values – Respect. Students were challenged to consider how they demonstrate respect in action within our school community by being safe, kind and fair to all.
We also welcomed Camps International, who presented to our Year 9 and 10 students about the Global Challenge. This exciting opportunity offers a select number of students the chance to travel to Peru in 2027 as part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Year 9 Morrisby Profiling
Careers education continues to be an important focus in Middle School. During Weeks 2 and 3, accredited Careers Consultants will be working with our Year 9 students in one-on-one sessions. These sessions provide students with the opportunity to explore their Morrisby Profiles, gaining a deeper understanding of their strengths, personality and attributes, and how these align with potential career pathways.
Year 10 VCE Careers Expo
Our Year 10 students attended the VCE Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre. With a wide range of universities, TAFEs and industry representatives present, students were able to explore the many pathways available to them in Years 11 and 12 and beyond. It was pleasing to see students engaging positively in workshops and taking the initiative to speak with exhibitors to broaden their understanding of future opportunities.
Optima (Pastoral Care Program)
In Optima classes, students continue to engage in meaningful learning that supports both their wellbeing and future pathways.
Year 10 students are currently completing Teen Mental Health First Aid, working towards certification, or undertaking Occupational Health and Safety modules in preparation for their Work Experience Program in Week 10 (Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June).
Year 9 students have been focusing on reflecting on their Term 1 reports, setting goals for Term 2, and developing strategies to manage stress and build effective coping skills. They will soon begin preparing for their City Experience, part of the Year 9 Upskills Program, also taking place in Week 10. Further information will be shared via Compass.
Midyear Examinations
In Week 9, Year 9 and 10 students will complete Midyear Examinations in English, Maths and Science. Students are only required to attend school for their scheduled exams, with timetables and room allocations to be made available on Compass shortly.
Students are encouraged to plan ahead and begin their revision early to support effective study habits. Maintaining strong attendance remains a key priority, as continuity of learning plays a significant role in maximising student success.
Celebrating Our Values, Pillars and Attendance
At the end of each term, we take great pride in celebrating student achievements through our formal assemblies. This includes recognising outstanding attendance, house point contributions, and presenting our Pillar Awards for Aspiration, Excellence and Community.
We encourage all Middle School students to strive for their Optima Semper and continue to embody our school values of respect, resilience, responsibility and empathy.
