SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

Term 2 Expectations and Reminders

As we begin Term 2, we would like to thank our students, families, and staff for their ongoing support in creating a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment across our school. This term, we will continue to reinforce our high expectations while also recognising and celebrating the many students who consistently demonstrate our school values each day. Please refer to School Expectations and Reminders.

Welcome Back to Term 2

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday period, and were able to spend quality time with family, friends and loved ones over the Easter break. It has been a very positive start to Term 2, with students returning settled, focused and ready to continue their learning.

It was fantastic to see so many of our families back on site for our recent Parent Student Teacher Conferences. There was a genuinely positive feel across the evening, and it was a strong reflection of community as one of our core pillars. These opportunities to connect, share feedback and strengthen the partnership between home and school are incredibly valuable in supporting each student’s progress.

Our Year 12 students began the term with what is always a highlight of the year, the Year 12 Retreat. This was a highly successful experience, with over 260 students involved across the three days. The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many embracing the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build connections and reflect on their final year. The retreat provided a valuable balance of challenge, fun and personal growth, allowing students to strengthen relationships with their peers and teachers while also taking time to refocus on their goals for the year ahead.

A program of this scale simply would not be possible without the extraordinary commitment of staff. I would particularly like to acknowledge the Year 12 team and the leadership of Ms Brittany Harvey along with Ms Victoria Stewart and Mr Pat Mooney, who dedicated an enormous amount of time and effort, including over the holiday period, to ensure the success of the retreat.

I would also like to sincerely thank all staff who attended and supported the program. Their care, energy and willingness to go above and beyond created an experience that will have a lasting impact on our students.

It was also pleasing to see our Year 11 students return so positively to the term, beginning with their Optima Day. The day included a welcome back BBQ lunch, a celebration assembly and an Optima session, providing students with the opportunity to reconnect, reflect and set clear intentions for the term ahead. The way our Year 11 cohort continues to approach their learning and their transition into Senior School has been very impressive.

As we move further into the term, our students are again in the full swing of SACs and increasingly demanding coursework. It is important that all students continue to maintain strong study routines and seek support from their teachers whenever needed. Our staff are deeply committed to supporting students and consistently offer their time and expertise beyond the classroom. Making the most of this support is a key part of achieving success.

We also continue to reinforce our high expectations across the Senior Campus. This includes a strong focus on attendance, punctuality and uniform. These expectations are not simply about compliance, they reflect the pride we have in our school and the standards we know our students are capable of meeting. Consistently demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy in these areas plays a significant role in creating a positive and purposeful learning environment for all.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for the strong and positive start to Term 2. I look forward to continuing to work together to support our students as they progress through what is an important and rewarding stage of their learning journey.
