This semester, students in Health and Physical Education are developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to support their health and wellbeing and active participation in physical activity. Below is an overview of what our Year 7 and 8 students will be learning this semester.
Year 7
Health Unit of Learning – Own Your Image
Year 7 students are exploring the concept of body image and developing an understanding of how media, social media, stereotypes and influential people can shape the way we view ourselves and others. Through class discussions, collaborative activities and the creation of a body-positivity campaign, students are learning strategies to promote wellbeing, build resilience and foster confidence within themselves and their community.
Physical Education Unit of Learning – Game Lab
In Physical Education, students are investigating games from a variety of cultures and examining what makes games fair, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. They will work collaboratively to modify existing games and design their own, while developing teamwork, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. This creative unit encourages students to think critically about how game rules can influence participation and enjoyment.

Year 8
Health Unit of Learning – Facing Your Future
Year 8 students are exploring topics that support healthy decision-making as they navigate adolescence. Throughout the unit, students will learn about building healthy and respectful relationships, effective communication, consent, gender stereotypes, alcohol and other drugs and reproductive health. Through practical activities and respectful discussions, students will develop the knowledge and confidence to make safe, informed decisions now and into the future.
Physical Education Unit of Learning– Offence and Defence
In Physical Education, students are developing their understanding of offensive and defensive strategies across a range of team sports. Through skill development, modified games and a team sport education program, students are enhancing their movement skills while strengthening teamwork, communication, tactical thinking and game awareness.
