Principal's Report

Welcome to the July edition of our College newsletter and to Term 3!

College Awards Afternoon

On Thursday 16th July, we celebrated the achievements of our students at our Mid-Year Awards Ceremony. This was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of those students that have challenged themselves and achieved excellence, both academically and in their personal achievements. It was wonderful to see students, staff and families joining us in person at the PAC and online to celebrate the success of our students.  

Whilst we recognised these students at the Mid-Year Awards Ceremony, I would also like to acknowledge the many students who have also received awards, green chronicles and recognition throughout Semester 1. Thank you for your commitment to excellence and to achieving your personal best. 

Results continue to grow!

The College has recently received our NAPLAN results, Students Attitudes to School Survey results, and current Attendance data — and I'm pleased to report continued growth across all areas!

Our NAPLAN results have continued to improve, with LHC students performing above both Similar Schools and Network Schools in almost every category, falling just short in only one.

Our Student Attitudes to School Survey results have also continued to grow, with fantastic improvement seen across all categories.

Similarly, our year-to-date Attendance data has shown improvement as well.

These outstanding results reflect the combined efforts of our students, staff, and families.

Course Information Night

On Tuesday 28th July, we hosted our Course Information Evening. While it may seem early in the year, planning for 2027 is already underway. It was wonderful to see so many students and families attend the Year Level presentations in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) and the Subject Expo in C Wing. C Wing was buzzing, with students and families engaging in conversations with staff about possible subject preferences and pathway options.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening, and a special thank you to our staff for sharing their knowledge with families and students, helping them make informed choices about their 2027 subject preferences.

College Production

Do you have your tickets yet? Our 2026 College Production of 'Grease' is fast approaching, and tickets are selling quickly!

I've been fortunate enough to visit rehearsals, and I'm constantly blown away by the talent both on and off the stage. Walking into the PAC, I see our cast acting, singing and dancing their hearts out. Backstage, a whole team of students and staff are busy designing and constructing costumes, sets and props. The amount of work that goes into mounting a full production is amazing, and the teamwork, collaboration and talent on display are truly incredible.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to grab your tickets to Grease!

School Review

This term, Lilydale Heights College will undertake our School Review — an important process that every Victorian school participates in once every four years. This review will help shape the direction of our next four-year School Strategic Plan.

The review is led by an independent school reviewer, supported by a panel that includes myself, a Senior Engagement Improvement Leader from the Department of Education, and challenge partners who are current or former school principals.

Throughout the process, the panel will examine our school data, conduct classroom observations, and run focus groups where students, staff and families can share their thoughts about our school.

Staff Greenies continue for Term 3!

They’re back! Staff Greenies will continue for Term 3. Staff Greenies are a great way for students to recognise the incredible work our staff do each day. They are awarded to staff who go above and beyond — in the classroom and beyond — making a meaningful and positive difference to the lives of students and colleagues.

So, to our students: if you see a staff member doing something outstanding, showing kindness, supporting others, or making a real difference, this is your opportunity to recognise them!
