Year 9

Troy McGown

Since late last term, we have had quite a few activities going on. Firstly, Year 9 students had their first exams ever. Students had to go to the library and complete four exams split between the two days.  The first day consisted of the English and Science exams and the next day was Maths and Humanities.

The day after  the completion of exams  we had an adventure day.  There were three different adventure day activities that went out; snow day, pre-city experience and laser tag.  The snow day was at Mt Donna Buang; the day was very cold but still not cold enough for snow. This led to the snow day people going for a bush walk on a wet and muddy trail, resulting in the majority of the students slipping on the steep terrain. Mt Donna Buang has an observation tower that is 21 meters high and lots of the group went up and down multiple times to get a bird's eye view of the place. Even though there was no snow it was still a great adventure day activity.

For pre-city experience and laser tag, both groups took a train together into the city.   The pre-city experience group got off the train at Flinders Street Station. We were split into three groups and then went to Melbourne Museum and ACMI.  After that we got into smaller groups and got to get food and then meet at State Library. We had about an hour to spend in Melbourne Central before we travelled home.

Coming up in SELF we will be starting to unpack our Year 10 subjects for next year and look forward to choosing more electives that will help us with our future pathways.

One of our lovely Year 9 students, Paige S. has recently been in Queensland for BMX World Championships. She was accepted to compete for Australia a couple of months ago and has been training and competing since then.  Well done  Paige!
