Careers

Athena Aligizakis

This month the Careers Team has started to book appointments for Year 12 careers counselling. If you find an appointment in your Compass Calendar, we look forward to seeing you. We try to organise these in your study period but if not, please just let your teacher know about your appointment so they can release you. We are located in the Library.   Please come prepared with any questions you have about what life looks like after Year 12, whether that is University, TAFE, a gap year, working or an apprenticeship so that we can help you plan your choices. Please bring a pen/paper or your laptop, so we can show you any information or you can do some research after you have left our office.

We are also fielding a lot of questions from students in Year 10 wishing to consider a VET course for 2026.

Please note that all VET forms are due Friday 31 July 2026.

Please also note the following regarding VET programs: VCE students MUST choose a Wednesday afternoon class. VCE-VM students are offered courses first. An enrolment application DOES NOT guarantee a place and students and parents are responsible for transport to and from VET course locations.

As always if you have questions, please make contact with the Careers Team:

Courtney Jordan, Careers & Pathways Coordinator, Courtney.jordan@education.vic.gov.au

Athena Aligizakis, Careers Practitioner, athena.aligizakis@education.vic.gov.au

YEAR 10

For students organising a second week of work experience for or later in the year:

NEW DIGITAL WORK EXPERIENCE AND STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING FORM

Work experience and structured workplace learning are an important part of our career education program at Lilydale Heights College. It helps students to explore potential jobs, understand workplace expectations and make informed education and career choices. Our school has introduced a new digital work experience and structured workplace learning form to simplify the process and save you time. It replaces the paper form we’ve used previously. You and your child can fill out and sign the form online at your convenience from a mobile phone or computer.   Digital work experience forms will be securely stored and handled in compliance with records management policies and Victorian privacy laws.

Process for digital forms

  • A digital form will be created when a work placement has been organised for your child.

  • Once the placement details have been completed by the student, and if your child is under 18, parent/guardians will receive an email with a link to review and sign the form.

  • A quick reference guide can be sent to students to explain the process.

  • If your child is under 18, a copy of the completed form will be emailed to you for your records.

Many thanks for supporting our work experience program.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance at:

Courtney Jordan, Careers & Pathways Coodinator, courtney.jordan@education.vic.gov.au

UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

ATAR Guarantees for February intake 2027 (Current Year 12 students)

For the 2027 intake, there will be no course-based ATAR Guarantee for the standard entry cohort. Instead, applicants will be ranked for selection into their preferred course based on their ATAR. Applicants will refer to the previous year’s lowest selection rank as a guide to entry. The lowest selection rank is the minimum ATAR that was required (before adjustments) to secure a place in each course in the previous start-year intake. Note prerequisites for each course must also be met.

Course-based ATAR Guarantees that were available in previous years will not apply for 2027 entry. Under current Australian government funding arrangements, the University is limited in the number of domestic Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) that can be offered per course.

Access Melbourne (the University’s Equity entry scheme) course-based ATAR Guarantees will remain for 2027 entry for both undergraduate courses and available Graduate Degree Packages. This includes guaranteed Access Melbourne ATARs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
