English

This term in English, students will continue to develop their reading skills, with a focus on phonics, decoding, and reading fluency. They will explore a range of engaging information texts to identify their purpose, structure, and key language features.

As part of our learning, students will build their knowledge and vocabulary through an exciting unit on minibeasts. They will use this knowledge to plan, draft, and publish their own information texts, applying the features they have explored throughout the term.

Students will also explore a variety of poems. They will respond to and enjoy poetry while experimenting with language to create their own simple poems. 

 

Maths

This term in Mathematics, students will develop their understanding of multiplication and division. They will explore the concepts of groups oflots of, and arrays to build a strong foundation for multiplication. Students will also begin to develop their knowledge of times tables through skip counting and repeated addition. 

Students will also explore the concepts of capacity and time. They will compare and measure the capacity of different containers using informal and formal units, and develop their understanding of time by reading and interpreting analogue and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, as well as sequencing events and using calendars.

 

Integrated Studies

This term in Integrated Studies, students will explore the Geography of Places, with a focus on Australia and the people and places that make it unique. They will learn about their local community, identify where they live on a map of Australia, and discover how places are connected through the journey of food from farms to supermarkets.

Students will also investigate how changes in transport and communication have influenced the way people connect with one another. Throughout the unit, they will develop an understanding of identity, belonging, and the connections between people and places.

 

Wellbeing

This term in Wellbeing, students will develop the knowledge and skills to build and maintain positive friendships. They will explore the qualities of a good friend, practise effective communication, and learn strategies for including others and resolving minor conflicts respectfully.

Students will also learn a range of relaxation techniques to help recognise and manage their emotions, build resilience, and support their overall wellbeing.
