Assistant Principal's Report

Dear families,
What a busy start we have had to Term 3 with Swimming, Parent Teacher Conferences and all the wonderful learning that students experience each day at Whitehorse Primary School.
Monash Counselling
This term we welcomed Bruna, our Placement Counsellor through Monash University. Bruna has a full caseload of students at the moment and will begin sessions as client intake forms and consent forms are returned to school.
Mini Street
Over the holidays our Mini Street was moved to the Village Green. This has really brightened up the space and allowed for more students to play in this area. Students in the Junior School have been responsible for taking out and packing away pretend food and other props to provide even more opportunities for fun and dramatic play.
Professional Learning for teachers and leaders
Our PLC Leaders have been undertaking further professional learning about Responsive Teaching with facilitator Bronwyn Ryrie Jones.
Responsive teaching is a model of explicit instruction in which teachers continually teach, track, and respond to student learning in real time. Rather than waiting until the end of a lesson or assessment, teachers gather evidence of understanding through frequent checks for understanding and immediately adapt their instruction to maximise learning.
Through our school’s professional learning schedule all teachers will continue their professional learning in this area.
At Whitehorse we are committed to ongoing learning!
Have a fantastic end to the week.
We are excited for another great term!
