Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a real highlight to be back at Whitehorse Primary School this term and see some fantastic learning happening across all classrooms. I have also appreciated the warm welcoming I have received from the wider community.
As we move through another busy and rewarding term, I would like to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students and look ahead to the exciting opportunities that continue to strengthen our school community.
NAPLAN
We are incredibly proud of our students' outstanding NAPLAN results. These achievements reflect not only their hard work and determination, but also the dedication of our teachers and the strong partnership we share with our families. Together, we have created a learning environment where students are supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their very best.
I will share some more detailed results in the near future but the highlight of our 2026 results as a school is that we maintained or increased the percentage of students achieving in the “Exceeding” category in 8 out of the 10 assessments across Grades 3 and 5.
While NAPLAN is only one measure of student learning, these results are a wonderful affirmation of our commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. We congratulate every student for the effort they put into their learning each day and thank our staff and families for the important role they play in helping our students succeed.
Foundation (Prep) Enrolments for 2027
We are excited to welcome the next generation of learners to our school. Foundation (Prep) enrolments for 2027 are now underway, and we encourage families with children starting school next year to submit their enrolment applications before the closing date.
The Victorian Department of Education's state wide enrolment timeline includes the following key dates:
Applications close: Friday 31 July 2026
Offer notifications: Monday 3 August – Friday 14 August 2026
Families accept offers by: Friday 28 August 2026
Transition and orientation sessions: Throughout Term 4, 2026, the transition sessions help children become familiar with their new school, teachers and classmates before beginning Foundation in 2027.
If you have friends, neighbours or family members looking for a welcoming and supportive school community, we warmly invite them to book a school tour and discover all that our school has to offer.
Running Club
Our Friday Morning Running Club continues to be a wonderful way for students to start the day with energy, enthusiasm and a healthy dose of fresh air. Whether students are training for school sporting events or simply enjoy being active with friends, everyone is welcome to join us before school each Friday morning. It has been fantastic to see so many students embracing the challenge, encouraging one another and developing healthy habits through regular participation. We encourage all students to come along and join in.
To ensure our Running Club can continue to grow and operate safely, we are looking for additional parent volunteers to assist on Friday mornings. Even if you can help on an occasional basis, your support would be greatly appreciated. Parent helpers play an important role in encouraging our students and helping the mornings run smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the school office for more information.
Student Supervision
Student safety at Whitehorse Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8:45am until 9:00am.
After school: School grounds are supervised from 3:30pm until 3:45pm.
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice) as students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervise
