Principal Report
We are already past the halfway mark of the term, and our students continue to work hard and display wonderful behaviour. It has been a very busy couple of weeks, with plenty happening and lots to celebrate!
Last week, we farewelled our Principal, Mr Holloway. It was fantastic to see so many families join us for his farewell community barbeque and help celebrate his incredible contribution to Oatlands Primary School. We wish Mr Holloway all the very best for his retirement and look forward to hearing about his many hiking adventures!
Our students achieved a fantastic result at last week’s Edwin Flack District Athletics Carnival. Students from Grades 4 to 6 represented Oatlands with pride and showed great determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. We were very excited to be named the overall winning school! Congratulations to everyone who competed and helped Oatlands achieve this wonderful result.
Our Grade 2 students recently enjoyed a fun-filled excursion to Scienceworks, while our Prep students had a fantastic time exploring Twisted Science. Both excursions gave students the chance to be little scientists! They enjoyed plenty of hands-on learning, explored new ideas and discovered more about the world around them.
Four students also proudly represented Oatlands at RoboCup, competing in the RoboCup On Stage event. They worked independently to code, problem-solve and prepare for the competition. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and should be very proud of the confidence, creativity and teamwork they displayed.
Oatlands celebrated Book Week this week with a range of engaging book-related lessons and activities. Prep–Grade 3 students were entertained by a theatre performance of Something Special, while our Grade 6 students wrote a picture book for our annual Book Trail. Each year level will also perform a live version of a favourite picture book, bringing the joy of reading to life for all of our students.
Over the past two weeks, all students have participated in a KidsROAR workshop. These age-appropriate sessions explored important topics including body safety, consent, respectful relationships and online safety. Students enjoyed the workshops and learnt valuable information and strategies to help them feel safe and confident.
Thank you to our families and wider school community for your ongoing support. It is your involvement and encouragement that help make Oatlands such a positive and welcoming place. We look forward to seeing what the second half of the term brings.
